The Survey on Women's Mobility and Work in Luanda 2026 (Inquérito sobre Mobilidade e Trabalho das Mulheres em Luanda 2026) collected data on women engaged in informal trade in Luanda, Angola. Respondents were market stall vendors, street hawkers and others in informal activity in Luanda, Angola.
The data is in Portuguese and comes from the Angolan Urban Laboratory (Laboratório Urbano de Angola - LURA). LURA is a non-profit organisation that studies urban areas in Angola with high population densities that have neighbouring informal settlements (Musseques). Their aim is to investigate and report on ways to integrate informal settlements into the formal urban fabric of the country. A second aim is to create an urban database to be shared with stakeholders to serve as a monitoring tool in the implementation of the SDGs as well as other global and local urban policies in Angola.
This dataset includes data on socio-demographic characteristics, daily mobility patterns, personal security, childcare and support networks, and economic conditions and aspirations of women engaged in informal trade in Luanda. The data is available from DataFirst in both the original Portuguese version and an English translation.
