Study on Public Spaces in Downtown Luanda 2022
The Study on Public Spaces in Downtown Luanda 2022 is a Portuguese language dataset from the Angolan Urban Laboratory (Laboratório Urbano de Angola - LURA). This survey collected data on how public spaces can become catalysts for urban revitalization in downtown Luanda. The study provides African input to Sustainable Development Goal 11.7 on Sustainable Cities and Communities which includes the target of ensuring universal access to safe, inclusive, accessible, and green public spaces, especially for women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
LURA is a non-profit organisation that studies urban areas in Angola with high population densities that have neighbouring informal settlements (Musseques). Their aim is to investigate and report on ways to integrate informal settlements into the formal urban fabric of the country. A second aim is to create an urban database to be shared with stakeholders to serve as a monitoring tool in the implementation of the SDGs as well as other global and local urban policies in Angola.
