DataFirst at the CESSDA 50th Anniversary Conference
DataFirst’s Lynn Woolfrey was invited to present on our data service at the prestigious 50th Anniversary Conference of the Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA) in Bergen, Norway in June. The conference celebrated CESSDA's impact over 50 years on open science and open data in the European Research Area (ERA) and beyond.
Lynn presented with other delegates from outside the ERA in a session on People – Re-imagine Research: Evolving with Society. The presentation focused on the influence of the CESSDA community of practice on DataFirst. Community engagement had ensured adoption of international data curation standards by the Service, which has led to many ‘firsts’ at DataFirst: The first data repository in Africa to achieve the international Data Seal of Approval as a trusted digital repository; the first and only African social science data repository to hold the international CoreTrustSeal award; and establishing Africa’s only Trusted Research Environment to share sensitive data for research. The session received very positive feedback from participants and further links were made with this expert community.
